Douglas and Leslie have gone to Mexico on two occasions for projects following hurricanes.

In 2021 they went to Puerto Vallarta following Hurricane Nora. As their church is involved with several churches in the Puerto Vallarta area, they went there to assess house repair needs for community members. They visited homes that had hurricane damage, assessing the severity of the damage, the cost of repairs, and a projected timeline of how long the project might take a small team to complete, passing on their recommendations to the church that had planned to send a short-term mission team to tackle the projects.

In 2023, Hurricane Otis hit Acapulco, and Leslie took two trips to the area for a church rebuild project. Leslie’s job was very similar to the work in 2021: conduct assessments of damaged buildings and pass along the assessments to headquarters to determine which churches would be rebuilt. Smaller church repair projects were decided by the team on the ground, working with suppliers and contractors to complete the work. Overall in her time there, they were able to complete about 30 church roof repair projects.
